Carlos D. Martinez was arrested Feb 16, 2017 on an outstanding warrant during a routine traffic stop.  After being taken to the police station for processing, Martinez spat on an officer and was subsequently charged with aggravated assault.  Later, after obtaining a warrant, police discovered 63 baggies of heroin in Martinez’s backpack.  He was then charged with the drugs.  On Mar 2, 2017…Martinez was released by Court Order – FREE TO GO.

MOUNT OLIVE, NJ— After executing a search warrant, Mount Olive Police found 63 baggies of heroin inside a township man’s backpack, police said in a statement.

Mount Olive Police pulled over a car on Route 46 on Feb. 16 in Budd Lake after recognizing the passenger, Carlos D. Martinez, 21, as having a warrant out for his arrest in Hackettstown.

During the stop and arrest, officers “developed probable cause” that there were drugs hidden in Martinez’s backpack. It was impounded as officers applied for a search warrant.

Martinez was transported to Mt. Olive Police headquarters, where he spat at an officer. He was transferred to Hackettstown Police and held at the Warren County Jail.After being charged with aggravated assault in Mount Olive, he was moved again to the Morris County Jail.

Officers executed the search warrant on Feb. 23, and found 63 bags of heroin inside the backpack. Martinez was charged with possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia as a result.

Mount Olive Police were assisted in their investigation by the Morris County Sherriff’s K-9, Hackettstown Police Department, and Warren County Prosecutor’s Office.

I feel that the decision to basicly say your free to go after all the drugs found is posterous plus a warrant out on him as well.’oh yes mister judge I will show up to court” What the courts going to do put another warrant out.hell lock this guy up.Basically it saying to the public I can carry drugs and get away with it.shaking my head.what’s next give the keys back to a intoxicated person and tell them to drive home.
