Man fired 14 shots at multiple cars, authorities say

(reported by NJ.com – June 2 2017)

A 29-year-old man has been charged with shooting at multiple car windows while he was allegedly under the influence of drugs or alcohol, authorities said.

Paul Alvarado, a Reed Street resident, is facing 14 counts of criminal mischief and weapons offenses for the shooting outside of his home Sunday evening, authorities said.

Police were called to the neighborhood near Monticello Avenue on reports of a man “shooting a handgun at multiple cars” in the area. Alvarado was standing next to two other men, one who urinated himself, and went inside his home when the officers arrived, according to a criminal complaint.

Neighbors identified Alvarado as the shooter to police, authorities said.

Officers gained entrance to the building and a consent form was signed to search Alvarado’s apartment. Officers found a pistol and airsoft gun in a box on the top shelf of a closet. The airsoft gun was used to shoot out the windows, the complaints states.

A car with a shot-out window was parked on Reed Street today.
