Suspicious shopper now charged with taking upskirt pictures of women

(reported by NJ.com – June 2 2017)

A man who came close to a woman’s young daughter in a supermarket in April, causing the mom to report him as a possible adductor, has been charged with taking upskirt pictures of women at two stores, police said Friday.

Jeffrey M. Wilson, Jr. 30, of Hamilton, has been charged with two counts of invasion of privacy and four counts of harassment for incidents in late April at the ShopRite at the Hamilton Marketplace and the ShopRite on Route 33, police said.

Wilson used a camera attached to his sneaker to take pictures of adult women while shopping, police said.

Police Capt. James Stevens confirmed Wilson is the man the mother encountered April 28 in the bakery aisle at the Marketplace store.

During that incident, the mother told police the man loitered around her daughter and she felt the man attempted to grab her daughter. She took hold of her daughter and reported it to store officials, who called police.

The mother then snapped a picture of the man and his car’s license plate, and started sharing the car pictures on Facebook, warning of a possible abductor.

Stevens said in early May that police tracked down the man and detectives found abduction attempt took place – that the man was indeed a shopper. He said the mother’s instincts were right, and police publicized the incident to assure the public that no crime occurred.
