VIDEO: New Mexico – Offenders laugh and dance in court (literally) thanks to NM Bail Reform

In a move that borders gross judicial overreach, New Mexico Chief Justice Charles Daniels continues to legislate from the bench – even as offenders are laughing and dancing their way out of the court room (literally) after being released and FREE TO GO under NM Bail Reform.

Much like New Jersey’s judiciary, New Mexico Chief Justice Daniels has taken the issue into his own hands…handing down new guidelines that virtually eliminate accountable pretrial release. Instead, judges now use the Arnold Foundation’s questionable risk assessment tool to determine release decisions.

The new rules and “black box” algorithm are now releasing violent offenders with charges ranging from burglary, rape, assault, and attempted murder with ZERO accountability and ZERO bail…FREE TO GO on the taxpayers dime with the public now at risk.

Odds this new system will work? ZERO

With pending lawsuits now in New Jersey and New Mexico, it’s only a matter of time before the roof caves in on bail reform. Let’s hope it’s not before another law abiding citizen gets killed or victimized.

A certain level of decorum should be expected in a courtroom, but some suspected criminals can't hold back their jubilation. Our cameras caught one guy literally dancing out of the courtroom. Others were clapping for fellow inmates.Danielle Todesco explains why they're so happy tonight on KOB Eyewitness News 4 at 10. Watch a preview of her story in the video below.
