Police report $4M heroin bust in Bensalem

(reported by 6 Action News – Oct 5 2017)

Six kilograms of heroin found hidden in a pickup truck are now off the streets of Bucks County.

Bensalem police seized the drugs and arrested three men during a recent traffic stop.

Police released the details Thursday, saying the drugs were in a secret compartment in the back of the truck.

The 30-year-old driver Edward Torres is under arrest for this case, and police said he was already on house arrest for a robbery in Camden.

Two accomplices, 27-year-old Sergio Landeros and 41-year-old Alejantro Granados, are also facing charges.

“Our opioid deaths are through the roof,” said Fred Harran, Bensalem’s director of public safety. “This seizure certainly saved lives on one simple car stop for illegal tint.”

The heroin is valued at more than four million dollars.

Police and DEA agents said the investigation led them to a home in Wissinoming where they found drug trafficking paraphernalia and approximately $50,000 dollars in cash.
