Police: Two arrested in shooting involving Fetty Wap

PATERSON – Authorities on Wednesday afternoon announced a second arrest in last weekend’s shooting involving Paterson hip-hop star Fetty Wap – this time apprehending a city man on charges usually filed against a suspected triggerman.

The suspect, 34-year-old Sylvester Huffin, was charged with two counts of attempted murder and various weapons crimes, including violation of a state law that prohibits convicted felons from having guns, according to Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Deputy Paterson Police Chief Troy Oswald.

Authorities have not disclosed exactly where Huffin was apprehended, or what evidence links him to the crime. They said he was arrested on Monday.

Three people were wounded in the incident, officials said. Police have not said how many shooters were involved in the incident. Authorities would not confirm reports that one of the wounded men had shot himself.

Another suspect in the Sunday morning shooting was arrested Tuesday night with a loaded handgun just a day after he was released from custody in the case because of New Jersey’s recent bail reform regulations, authorities announced.

Raheem Thomas, 36, himself a hip-hop star known as “Fuzz,” is now accused of first degree armed robbery, a more serious charge than the assault and weapons offenses he faced when he was initially arrested on Monday, officials said. Thomas and Fetty Wap have been involved in an ongoing feud, according to media reports.
