Tenafly PD Catches Resident Exposing Himself To Passing Cars Through Window

From Englewood Daily Voice – Mar 7, 2017

TENAFLY, N.J. – Undercover Tenafly police officers alerted to a 62-year-old resident who was exposing himself to passing vehicles through a window arrested him after catching him in flagrante delicto , authorities said Tuesday.

A motorist called police after passing the home of Todd Birch on Friday afternoon after seeing him through a window on the Hickory Avenue side, Capt. Michael deMoncada said.

“Several Tenafly officers responded to the area in unmarked vehicles to investigate,” deMoncada said.

Sure enough, he said, one of them spotted Birch “completely nude, standing inside of a large window facing the roadway and performing a lewd act,” the captain said.

Birch “was clearly visible from the road and was focused on the vehicle that was occupied by [the officer] as it drove past,” he said.

Officers who approached the house said they found evidence of marijuana use and drug paraphernalia.

Based upon witness statements and evidence gathered at the scene, they took Birch into custody and charged him with lewdness and possession of the pot and paraphernalia.

He was then released on a summons to appear in court.

Detectives believe that Birch’s actions “may have targeted a specific individual who was known to frequent the area at that time,” deMoncada said.

However, he emphasized that the investigation was continuing.
