Newark, NJ – NJ Bail Reform GPS ankle monitor found after a defendant apparently cut it off – Newark PD seeking assistance from public for information

Newark Police Department issued a Nixle alert seeking information from the public after a NJ Bail Reform ankle monitor was found at Avon & South 17th street – apparently cut-off by a defendant who was released on pretrial monitoring under NJ Bail Reform.

We can’t help but ask…

  1. How is it that pretrial services didn’t know about this issue before the ankle monitor was found in the street?
  2. What information are the exactly looking for? The identity of the defendant? What kind of scissors they used? We can only assume that they know the identity, right?

Regardless, let’s hope the defendant that cut this monitor off is located soon.
