Jersey City man charged with violating Megan’s Law supervision

Jersey City – A 48-year-old Jersey City sex offender was arrested Wednesday after he allegedly lied to his parole officer about where he was living.
Michael Loreca is charged with failing to report to his parole officer, failing to live at an approved location and failing to get permission to change his address, according to his criminal complaint.
On Jan. 19, Loreca told his parole officer he was moving to the 1900 block of Kennedy Boulevard in Jersey City. The officer went to the building on Jan. 25 and could not find Loreca there, but another resident of the building told the parole officer no such person lived there, the complaint states.
The complaint lists Loreca’s address as St. Lucy’s Shelter on Grove Street in Jersey City.
When Loreca made his first appearance on the Megan’s Law violations in Criminal Justice Reform Court in Jersey City Thursday, it was revealed that he has prior disorderly persons and indictable convictions, with one considered violent. At the hearing, he was ordered released with conditions of supervision pending his next court date.
