Police arrest suspect in Glen Rock car burglaries

(reported by NorthJersey.com – June 7 2017)

Glen Rock police arrested a Rutherford man in connection with several car burglaries Tuesday morning, officials said.

Josean Alexander, 20, was taken into custody after police used a K-9 to find him hiding in the bushes near the scene of several car break-ins early Tuesday morning, Chief Dean Ackermann said.

Officers who were investigating several burglaries had set up a perimeter to try to catch the suspect or suspects. That was when they found Alexander, Ackermann said.

Ridgewood police and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the search.

Police believe there may be additional suspects, Ackermann said, so the incident is still under investigation.

Police said they knew of 15 burglaries on Kent Road, Greenway Road, Oak Knoll Road, Lowell Road, Hillside Avenue and Rock Road. Four burglaries on the Boulevard were reported over the past weekend, Ackermann said.

Similar incidents have occurred in Hawthorne and Allendale, but those cases may or may not be related, he said.
