Secaucus police arrest 2, recover 3 loaded guns: cops say

(reported by NJ.com – May 15 2017)

Police recovered three loaded weapons and arrested a Secaucus couple Friday after an officer spotted one of the guns inside an unoccupied vehicle, authorities said.

Just after 2:50 p.m., Secaucus Police Officer Joseph Fuardo was investigating a “suspicious vehicle” on Third Street. The car was parked unoccupied, but all of its doors were left ajar, Secaucus Police Capt. Dennis Miller said.

The officer noticed a loaded semi-automatic handgun was in plain view from outside the vehicle. When the gun was recovered, police determined it had been reported stolen in North Carolina, Miller said.

A loaded shotgun and numerous rounds of ammunition were later found during a search of the vehicle. Police also found suspected methamphetamine, alprazolam, — an anxiety medication — and endocet, a pain killer composed of acetaminophen and oxycodone, authorities said.

The owner of the vehicle, Gerard Grossi, 43, was in the process of loading items into the car at time police came upon the vehicle, Miller said.

He was arrested and charged with various drug and weapons offenses, including unlawful possession of a handgun and unlawful possession of a shotgun. Grossi was also charged with receiving stolen property.

Grossi’s girlfriend, Jessica Skinner, 27, who was also present at the time, had a loaded semi-automatic handgun with a defaced serial number in her waistband, Miller added.

She was also found to be in possession of methamphetamine, alprazolam, suboxone, a medication used to treat opiate addiction, police said.

Skinner was arrested and charged with weapon and drug counts, in addition to tampering with physical evidence.
