Millburn High School volleyball coach charged with molesting 14-year-old teen FREE TO GO under NJ Bail Reform

Millburn, NJ – The Millburn High School head volleyball coach has been charged with molesting a 14-year-old teen by engaging in sexual acts after giving the teen alcohol.

Peter Nguyen, 50, of Edison, has been arrested on two second-degree counts of endangering the welfare of a child, sexual contact, giving the teen alcohol, and third-degree aggravated criminal sexual contact.

Nguyen allegedly took the teen girl to his house on two separate occasions where he gave her alcohol and inappropriately touched her.

Nguyen works as the head volleyball coach at Millburn High School and also worked as a bookkeeper for the Millburn Board of Education.

Nguyen was later released and FREE TO GO after the Arnold Foundation’s “Pretrial Risk Assessment” tool determined he was not a danger to the community or a flight risk and therefore should not be subject to any accountable release – just a “promise” to appear.

The release is just one more example of the thousands of unaccountable and reckless pretrial releases for those criminally charged under the NJ Bail Reform Act.
