Albuquerque, NM – Prior convicted felon charged with possession of gun and methamphetamine FREE TO GO under Judge Daniels NM Bail Reform

Jose J Cruz

Jose J Cruz, 41, of Albuquerque, a prior felon, was arrested for possession of a firearm and methamphetamine on Sept 5 2017.

Cruz made his first appearance the next day and was released and FREE TO GO under under NM Bail Reform after the Arnold Foundation’s “Pretrial Risk Assessment” tool determined that he was not a danger to the community or a flight risk and therefore should not be subject to any accountable release – just a “promise” to appear.

The release is the result of newly enacted Supreme Court guidelines orchestrated by Chief Justice Daniels that virtually eliminates accountable pretrial release and bail.
