Perth Amboy, NJ – Nurse charged in sexual assault of two patients FREE TO GO under NJ Bail Reform

Wilber Hernandez, 29, of Perth Amboy, was charged with second-degree sexual assault and fourth-degree criminal sexual assault involving two patients, including a 74-year-old woman in the emergency room.

In a separate incident in October, Hernandez was charged with fourth-degree criminal sexual contact, lewdness and a disorderly persons involving a 49-year-old female patient.

Hernandez has since been released and FREE TO GO thanks to NJ Bail Reform after the Arnold Foundation’s “Pretrial Risk Assessment” tool determined that he was not a danger to the community or a flight risk and therefore should not be subject to any accountable release – just a “promise” to appear.

Nurse charged with sexually assaulting 2 patients

A registered nurse was arrested Thursday on charges he sexually assaulted two patients, including a 74-year-old woman in a hospital emergency room.

Wilber Hernandez, 29, of Perth Amboy, was charged with second-degree sexual assault and fourth-degree criminal sexual assault after an incident June 29 with the 74-year-old patient, Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew Carey and city police Director Anthony Caputo said.

Hernandez, who has been suspended from his job as a nurse at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, was also charged with fourth-degree criminal sexual contact, lewdness and a disorderly persons offense after an incident Oct. 13 involving a 49-year-old female patient, authorities said.
