Troy Laforte, 32, and John Jackson, 50, were both arrested during an investigation that uncovered over 6,000 bags of heroin, a loaded handgun, and drug proceeds – all near School 15.

The investigation stemmed from authorities investigating drug sales on Martin Luther King Drive near Dwight Street. Laforte was arrested carrying 1,000 glassine bags of heroin and 64 vials of cocaine. A search warrant in an apartment near the school resulted in the arrest of Jackson when police found 5,000 bags of heroin, a loaded handgun, and $11,000 in drug proceeds.

Laforte and Jackson are now FREE TO GO after the Arnold Foundation’s “Pretrial Risk Assessment” tool determined that he was not a danger to the community or a flight risk and therefore should not be subject to any accountable release – just a “promise” to appear.

Police recovered a loaded handgun, more than 5,000 bags of heroin, and thousands of dollars in cash from an apartment across the street from a public school on Friday night, officials said.

Authorities investigating drug sales on Martin Luther King Drive near Dwight Street arrested 32-year-old Troy Laforte, of Van Wagenen Street. Laforte was carrying 1,000 glassine bags of heroin and 64 vials of cocaine, city spokeswoman Jennifer Morrill said.

During a follow up investigation, police prepared a search warrant for an apartment on Dwight Street, directly across the Street from School 15, she said.

Police found 5,000 bags of heroin, a loaded handgun, and $11,000 in cash which authorities consider drug proceeds. John Jackson, 50, who lives inside the unit, was arrested, Morrill said.
